Viatel Europe was a portfolio of 100,000 sq/ft of data center space connected by 8,500 km of telecoms duct and optical fiber across UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland.
It was acquired by Chirisa from Morgan Stanley in 2013, restructured and repositioned in the market and divested in 2016 to Zayo (for whom it continues to be their core business and infrastructure in Europe).
The team restructured the business to deliver a sustainable cash flow positive operation, and enhance its transparency and simplicity for a future buyer.The customer base was improved to service all 10 of the top 10 internet companies. The brand was upgraded and relaunched whilst the business was repositioned and promoted in the relevant markets to drive awareness and growth.
